1. Do I retain the rights to my work?
Yes. You retain full copyright to your work at all times. You may discontinue publishing through us at any time, take your book to another publisher, distribute your content however you wish, or have other publishers produce additional formats (such as audiobooks). You are never beholden to us for copyright ownership — it remains entirely yours.
2. What services do you provide as a publisher?
We handle the production, printing, and global distribution of your book. We do not provide advertising, publicity, or promotional services beyond listing your book on our website and on the websites of our distribution partners.
3. Where will my book be available once it’s distributed?
Your book becomes available through over 38,000 outlets worldwide, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, independent bookstores, universities, and libraries. This means your book is available for order, but it does not guarantee that any retailer will physically stock copies on their shelves.
Your eBook will also be available through library apps, where you receive small compensation for each checkout — with no commission taken out on our part.
4. How do I submit my content to be produced into a book?
Plain text is always best, or a word-processed document (such as MS Word) using minimal formatting.
Graphics for the cover or interior should be high‑resolution and large enough for professional printing. Do not send complete cover designs without first being given a template with exact specifications.
If you choose to submit a print‑ready PDF, it must meet strict technical requirements. These guidelines are available and can be discussed with us before submission.
5. Are there limitations on fonts, styles, or layout?
Yes. Unless you submit a fully print‑ready PDF, there are limitations on fonts, styles, and layout. However, we offer many different options, and we will work with you to choose the best combination for your book.
6. How is compensation calculated for each sale?
Your compensation is based on the net revenue after printing cost, seller compensation (usually 40%) and a $1 fee per unit for us as publisher. The remaining amount is your royalty. Shiping is passed onto the purchaser by the seller and does not affect this calculation.
7. How do I choose the retail price of my book?
You may choose your own retail price. We can provide guidance based on print cost, industry norms (niche versus general market), and typical pricing for similar books.
Ultimately, the final retail price is your decision. We recommend it be at least 3x the base printing cost.
8. How is the print cost calculated?
Print cost is determined by several factors, including:
- Page count
- Trim size
- Black & white vs. color printing
- Paper type
- Binding type
Once these specifications are known, we can calculate the exact per‑copy print cost so you can make informed pricing decisions.
9. When and how do I get paid?
Sales from retailers and outlets around the world are typically reported monthly. Payments are then sent to our company three months after the reporting month.
If your accumulated royalties are under $100, payouts are held and issued at the end of the year. Amounts over $100 are paid as soon as they are received.
10. Do you promote or advertise my book?
We feature your book on our website and on the websites of global sellers. All additional promotion – such as advertising, author events, signings, or media outreach – is the responsibility of the author.
11. Do I need an ISBN?
We provide the ISBNs for each edition of your work, usually one for paperback or hardcover, and one for eBook. Every version of the work, other than small editing corrections, require its own ISBN.
